I thought it was brilliant! What a funny way to point at us all for using our shortcomings as excuses for whatever reason. I LOVE how at the end of the video he can't reach the can of tomatoes (because he's too short) so he uses the step ladder and climbs up to the very top and tries to reach down to get the can and can't now because he's too tall... You'll know what I mean when you watch the video. Basically he's always either too short or too tall...

How many of us are making excuses like this every day so that we can avoid failing? Doer or Loser?

Work From home is such a buzz word these days. I find it very interesting how many people want more than anything to work for themselves but end up working an average job never really doing anything to change what they hate. I’m a true “work from home” kind of guy. I don’t rely on any boss, and I can only say that it happened because I quit my job and just did it. I’m not saying quit your job and just do it… but I am saying just do something if you want to.

I was reading another book. I read a lot. I loved what this guy had to say. It was John Cow from johncow.com He said “It’s so easy to separate the doers from the losers”. I’ve found that to be true! Doers tell you their goals, have a deadline and aren’t afraid of failure. Losers say “someday” and “I’d love to be able to” and “I hope to” and “eventually I’ll”… They dream and hope that things will happen but they never really do what it takes to make anything happen. You learn to recognize this kind of behaviour and talking pretty quickly when you make a conscious effort to be a doer. Being a doer means saying things like “I am”.

What are you doing in your life to help you realize your goals? Have you set any goals? Are they on paper? Do you have a journal to write your ideas in and your dreams? Do you set deadlines to accomplish your goals? Are you a doer or a loser?

If working from home is one of your goals… is it worth it? It's a lot of work... and you have to DO stuff... But right now I’m drinking my morning cup of coffee typing on the laptop in my living room while my little girl watches Dora… hold on she wants me to get her some milk. Ya, it's worth it.

Cheers!

Deni (aka Jack Squatro)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jacksquatro.blogspot.com/2007/08/work-from-home-doer-or-loser.html' title='Work From Home? I've been feeling really artistic... like I need to paint and write poetry and dance all at the same time. OK... maybe not dance. I'm going to put up some new music at myspace.com/denisgauthiermusic Thats where I put up all my demo's to test them out to a small group of people that are really into my music. I'm keeping it small and don't add just anyone so if you would like to be a part of my new music and have a voice on how the final product will sound add me, but make sure that you leave a message indicating that you are adding because of the blog or I may not approve it. This is really cool. I'm keeping it very mello and folk, with LOTS of different instruments like mountain dulcimer and didgeridoo... plus, I'm incorporating electronic sounds into the mix now. You'll love it.

I was reading on David Ledoux's blog (didyousmellthat.com) about a ghost incident that we both experienced about a year ago... brings back great memories, and strange ones. Go read it!

Love Jack.

PS look for the new songs later today.

Check it out... He's the future of television. His older stuff he used to do cracked me up so much when I was a teenager. I'm actually laughing right now... I've got a you tube video playing the back ground that I'll put up with this post.

Tom is the first person to really broadcast a show 100% on the internet. He has amazing guests and a few sponsors and the ability to take skype calls during the show so people can ask his guest questions. It's simply the future.

Hanson was on last night so I figured that I'd like to make my self known to Tom and his friends. It was my debut on the Tom Green show and I encourage you to download the Hanson episode so you can see me talk hockey and Hanson.

For know... check out this older clip of Tom Green from way back when.

Denis

Did You Smell That?

Hey there! Nice to see you back. Did you read my blog on intrigue? Tay Zonday, the next You Tube sensation, is killing the competition in cyberspace with his (very) unique original material and a few covers to boot. It's so interesting me that the music industry is changing forever! 10 years ago you needed to have at least $20,000 to record an album and have product available to sell the masses. Now, you can record your self on a web cam upload it to You Tube and if it has something special there is a good chance people will see it and you can make money off that.

I've been talking Trends for a long time with David Ledoux of www.didyousmellthat.com and one of the most important things that he taught me was to get in front of emerging trends. As a business owner I've taken that very seriously and tried to implement that into how I run my businesses. Take music for example. If you are a dinosaur you bought your last CD at HMV. CD's are an old medium and will disappear before you know it... they are the next VHS. If you are under 35 you probably either downloaded your last album for free from a torrent site, or if you prefer to legally purchase your hip-hop, you bought your music on iTunes, or Napster, or one of the hundreds of legal online music stores. The way we store photos, video, music and other important documents are changing . The way we share them is also changing. Remember Mix Tapes??

The music industry is changing. Is yours? When something changes most people cling to what used to be and long for the good old days. A few will look forward and see the actual change, adapt and profit from it! What type of person are you?

When I met Dave I was playing 4 shows a week (I'm a full time musician), traveling all over Ontario selling CD's and generally working like a dog getting home at 4 in the morning half of the week. Because of his teaching and influence I make more than double of what I used to make and I travel half as much. When Dave started a blog I was pumped! Not only that but he set up an internet marketing course (that I did for FREE), but he's sharing his thoughts on how to make money online... Am I making more money because of it? Yup. This is priceless information.

Go and check out what he has to say. I can't believe he's not charging money to access his thoughts online...

www.didyousmellthat.com

All for now! Below is a You Tube video of the man himself talking about focusing in a niche market and why it is so important.

Chocolate Rain

So I was browsing You Tube the other day and I see this guys face that I recognized. Not too long ago I saw a guy with a strange voice sing a Rick Astley song. He sang it way lower and way slower (at least it felt like it). The first thing I thought was Rick rocks! What happened to that guy??? Then I thought that this other guy Tay was a little strange, but interesting.

About 2 months ago he posted a song called Chocolate Rain... and it got well over two MILLION hits in 90 days. HOLY FRIG MAN!!! We call that a viral internet phenomenon. I was speaking (actually typing... and he was speaking on Dave TV... check it out) with David Ledoux at www.didyousmellthat.com today and he was telling me about the kinds of things Tay should be doing to capitalize on this moment of fame. With that much traffic he could be generating serious addsense money. The interesting thing to me is what makes him so popular. Any ideas?? There are many more "talented" guys posting music on you tube... I think Tay has a really high intrigue value to him. That right. Intrigue.

How important it that??!! What is it that makes him stand out so much??? And how can we add intrigue to our business' to generate that kind of traffic. What makes you stand out?

Here is a great example of intrigue!

OK I have to post this vid as well... after watching Tay's video I saw this. It made me fall on the floor laughing. I also peed. But thats OK because I wasn't in that ladies coffee shop with the sign telling me that I couldn't pee there... Ummmm see the post below for an explanation.

Enjoy!

Denis

Don't pee here!

So I was on vacation with a friend of mine a little while ago. Oh ya… VACATION! My first since I started working for myself. You see… I really enjoy what I do, and it doesn’t really occur to me to take time off by myself. All of my spare time is spent with my family, but I had the chance to just chill it out with one of my best friends and I took it.

He is also self employed… we talked business between naps, cigars and the occasional cold beverage. His name is Bill Abbott, go check him out, his magic will blow your mind.

Anyway, we went out for a coffee. Oh yes, a sweet black cup of hot joe on a rainy cottage day. Perfect. As I approached the little coffee shop entrance I notice a sign. It read “ABSOLUTELY NO PUBLIC USE OF OUR WASHROOM!”. It even had an exclamation mark! The very first thing this person told me was NEGATIVE! Can you believe it? And they want me to buy stuff? Now, I didn’t think that at that moment, I DID however subconsciously assume that the owner was going to be a jerk. As soon as I saw her I made a mental note “so THATS what a jerk looks like... if my little girl was going to pee her pants they would let her”. I also was slightly stiff and aloof with her (out of character for me) because the sign told me that she was insensitive and would let my little girl pee on her floor. Bill and I were thinking that it would be so much better if they just made up a crazy story like “I’m sorry… every time someone flushes our toilet it rains for the rest of the day, so we’ve decided to never use it unless it doesn’t rain for a month”, and then tell the real story like “our septic system can’t handle the amount of waste we put in it if we make it public”. At least then it’s a god conversation starter.

Funny eh? Isn’t amazing how we can make assumptions without thinking? Made me think. What am I doing in my life that is turning people off? Do I have a big sign on me that is turning people away from my business? What can I do better to make people feel more comfortable around me?

So I’ll ask you this. Do you make issues out of nothing? Do you like drama? What can you do to improve your sign that you carry around your neck that everyone reads without knowing it?

All for now… but seriously! Those are heavy questions!!! Be honest with yourself.

Business'

So I’ve been working really hard at learning how to make money online. Learning is the first step. The figuring out, and the growing pains, and the method. I’m really learning a lot.

The learning all started about one year ago. I was mixing my latest album in Nashville, and my friends dad got me on a product that changed my rapidly deteriorating health 180 degrees. I met a man by the name of David Ledoux that changed my life forever, and helped me start a home business with that product that pays me residually each month. He has taught me so much over that last year, but I learned two fundamentals that really stick with me.

1. The importance of Leverage.
2. What residual income is.

Leverage is having employees… or people that when they work, you benefit off of their hours. And residual income is when you sell something that the person buys over and over again and you continue to receive commissions on those sales.

Now imagine this. Imagine a business that allows you to enroll people into it like employees. The catch is that you are responsible for those “employees” and the more money you help them make the more money you make. This business is also allows you to capitalize off a residual base every time the people in your organization buy more product. This business also gives equal opportunity to all members. Thats right… you have the opportunity to make more money than your enroller, and is the very opposite of the rat race because when you DO make more money that your enroller everyone is super pumped. (In the “Rat race” or corporate world, there is a good chance you will get pushed down for your success).

Oh ya, this business, you can also operate from home with no overhead no accounts receivable, no shipping, no check cutting, on your own time, your own scheduled hours without quitting your job. Did I mention that by owning your own business you get incredible tax breaks?

You see… most people walk through life in a daze and have no idea that there is a better way. You really can be your own boss and stick it to the man:)
Some people are afraid. Too afraid to try something new that they don’t know about. Some people just can’t listen to their own judgment and have no idea that they have it within them to start something new. And some people are just ignorant. Unwilling to listen to logic because they have “heard” bad things about the product or the business.

The problem is that you don’t know what you don’t know… until you try something new.

I’m going to throw a term out there… it’s called “network marketing”. Something you do every day with out even thinking about it, and it’s creating millionaires every day. I’ll write more on the subject later, but I want you to know that the more I do it, the more I like it. I like getting paid for my effort, because I decided about a year ago that my time is much more valuable than some people want to pay. So I’ll do it my own way.

You may qualify to work with me. Feel free to go and have a look. Give it a rating and help me out! (Good or bad:) After a few days it’s already in the top 500 most viewed pages on the site n the music category.

This is my challenge today. Most people move through life with no idea that they have influence on people around them, and never figure out how to USE (you heard me) that influence to make a positive impact on the people around them.

I’ll take it one step further. Most people drift through life and never make an impact.

Most people have their eyes closed. David Ledoux, a mentor of mine, tells me that people are asleep at the wheel, with no idea of the kind of potential that is knocking on their door. In fact, usually they turn that potential down, and it leaves big dents on the door but nothing else.

Are you the type of person that is driving asleep at the wheel, or are you alert and aware of the types of things you could be doing to making more money, or better yet, to quit you J.O.B (a four letter word in my house).

You can make money online, and if you wan to scratch the surface, check out David Ledoux’s new site, did you smell that dot com I encourage you to sign up on the internet marketing program… it’s FREE! You will learn more about internet marketing in his course than you would if you were to take a university course on the subject. Don’t believe me? Prove me wrong and try it! It will be invaluable learning… and ultimately thats the one thing you never want to stop doing.

all for now,

Jack

What are you afraid of???

Amazing! So may people need a change.. want a change, crave a change but are oblivious to what kind of change may be a good thing. Let me explain. We want something but we have no idea what we are looking for so we settle on what we have. But deep down inside we are busting out to try something new and feel alive again. Remember when you first fell in love? That was a rush! Were you looking for love?
Let me ask you something. Do you love what you do? Really! Answer honestly and be true to yourself. How long do you see yourself doing what you do?
Want a change? How can you find it? It starts with an open mind. It continues with personal growth, and is sustained with continual learning. Read books!! Did you know that you have huge potential to make great money? You need to have an open mind to the possibilities that enter your life and the courage to act on them. New change is right around the corner… you just need to act on it, and it may be the important thing you do for your own personal growth.

all for now

Jack

Love isn't all it's cracked up to be.

So now that I have your attention, I thought I’d fill you in on something. I’m going to just send this out there, and you can feel free to send it right back. If you are not loving your neighbor, then you are directly contributing to world hunger, poverty and war. Huh? Take a minute to think about it. Where did you think it all began? In the heads and hearts of men… or man. Individuals. Is it hot in here? No, really… I’m office is hot, I have the sun shining in on me and our air conditioning isn’t installed yet.

Back to the point. What have you done today to reverse the hate effect? Did you know that hate tends to travel faster and with more force than love? Well, let’s put it this way. When you are in a good mood, how easy is it to pick up on negativity and let it take over? In contrast to that, when you are in a bad mood, how easy is it to just let it go and turn into Mr/Mrs Happy? I would say that being positive is harder to maintain.

Today. Today you can choose to spread a little more love around. I find the more that you spread the more you get! Ya, because it’s not a penance type thing! It’s GOOD for you… good and good for you. Question is, will you do it or not? I mean actually be active about loving total strangers (and and not so total strangers). It’s harder than you think… but not really. Try it, you’ll know what I mean.

Relating this to your business. People don’t like working with jackholes. Did I just say that? People like working with friends. Who would you rather do business with… someone you like and respect or Mr Jackhole? Listen to this. Loving your neighbor will have a direct impact on what you do for a living. Want to know specifically what it does?

It creates value to the relationship with the person you are impacting… and it’s free. Something for nothing? Love? Your secret weapon? You be the judge.

all for now,

Jack (not Jackhole)

Why Your Friends Fear Success.

OK, I’ve been thinking. Not that I do much of it… but sometimes it’s worth something.

I’m going to tell you why most people you know hate their job and will never do anything to improve their situation in life. Not only that, but why they would rather accept mediocrity than success.

You heard me right… for the most part your friends would rather NOT succeed.

First of all, let me start with this. Our north american school system TRAIN’S us to be the perfect middle class citizen. What do middle class citizens do? Wake up at 6:00, eat breakfast, to work by 8:00 (after a 45 min commute) work, take a 15 mim break, work, take a 1/2 hour break, work, another 15 mim break, work, drive home through traffic (another 45 min commute at least) get home just in time to sit in front of the TV to eat some over processed food micro-waved, wrapped in plastic and fall asleep dreaming of winning the lottery so they don’t have to get up and do the same thing again every day for the next 40 years so they can retire on half of what they make now.

Sound familiar?

School told us really early on “be here then, or you are in trouble, have this done by then, sit here, move there, go home now, be back here tomorrow.” Sound familiar? We’ve been trained. Oh yes… we’ve been trained well.

So what is success? I believe that happiness is a great measure of success. I also believe that being able to write a check for $1000 when I need to after I retire may be a good thing. (Did you know that writing a $500 check is a major struggle for 90% of our north american senior citizens?).

Back to the point. Your friends don’t want to succeed. It’s too much work, I don’t have time, I don’t have the money to invest, I have a itch, I can’t do it today… I’d rather win the lottery. But honestly… why not? I’ll tell you right now. They don’t know how to. And we have been taught to reject failure. When I say failure, you probably flinch! What happened when you got a D on your science paper in grade 9? I know for a fact that failure is one of our societies biggest fears along with public speaking and rubber chickens. Your friends are afraid of failure... they fail to recognize that failure should be embraced. It is one of the ways that that we learn and grow… one of the most potent ways that we can expand and improve.

Learn to never fear failure and you will see opportunities to make money that you may have never seen before. Learn to embrace failure and you will know what it means to respect success and strive for it.

All for now,
Jack Squatro
